We are delighted to announce that Professor Zhang will be in the Bay Area to meet with our alumni community and brief us on the global expansion plans, focus, and directions of HKU in the upcoming years. Professor Xiang Zhang assumed office as the 16th President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in
July 2018. Prior to joining HKU, Professor Zhang was the inaugural Ernest S. Kuh Endowed Chair Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and the Director of the US National Science Foundation Nano-scale Science and Engineering Center (SINAM). He has also served as the Director of Materials Science Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL). His research focuses on materials physics, metamaterials and nano-photonics. As you may be aware, in 2022, HKU was ranked at 4th in Asia University Rankings, and 31st in World University Rankings.
It was also named the World’s Most International University in the same year.
Please join us on Saturday, May 20 to network with fellow alumni and make some new
friends. You will also have an opportunity to meet Professor Zhang in an intimate setting
and hear his update on the future of the University of Hong Kong.
