Please join us to learn how these two millennial Hong Kong University alumni, through their own initiative, determination, and hard work have already made such impressive achievements during their short time living in the United States.  

Lilian Qiyi Lian 連沁怡

Armed with a HKU Bachelor of Economics & Finance degree (first class honor) in 2015, Lilian Qiyi Lian  first began her Investment Banking career in Hong Kong. Subsequently, she became a Vice President in the private equity team of Macquarie (a global financial services company) in New York.
Today, Lilian is a MBA candidate at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Class of 2023. She is very active and currently holds several leadership positions at the school, such as the President of Greater China Club, Vice President at PE/VC Club, and Vice President at Wharton Women in Investing Club.
Interestingly, in 2019 Lilian founded the HKU Young Professional Alumni in North America Association ( with a mission to provide social and career opportunities for all HKU alumni.
Elena Chen 陳伊昕

Elena is a 2012 graduate of HKU with a Bachelor of Economics and Finance degree. Subsequently she went to Stanford and graduated with a joint MBA and Master of Education degree.
Elena started her working career as an Investment Banker in Hong Kong at Credit Suisse and J.P. Morgan, advising on IPO and M&A transactions for financial institutions clients in Asia Pacific. By 2017 she was already the Chief of Staff at Onion Math, the largest Chinese math online learning platform. Today she is a Senior Product Manager at Google, building innovative products for hundreds of millions of users on the Google Play Store.
Meanwhile, she is a co-author of a career planning textbook for high school students in Jiangxi Province, China. In the US she is also the Leader of the HKU Bay Area Alumni WeChat Group.

Lilian and Elena will share with us their amazing stories navigating both the educational, as well as career workspace in the United States. They will also introduce us to the HKU Young Professional Alumni in North America Association and the HKU Bay Area Alumni WeChat Group.
